Baby clothes take some special care, just like babies do. Babies tend to be pretty unreliable in describing how they feel about their clothes, so it’s important to know how to take care of them without too much in the way of feedback. If they like something, they will either smile or just keep on staring at you. If they don’t like something, they might cry, they might scream, or they might just sit there staring at you. This is why it is so important to take care while doing your little baby’s laundry. Follow these 3 tips to make sure your little one will be comfy and warm in their freshly laundered clothing.
1. Wash all new baby clothes
Always wash little juniors’ clothes before the first wearing. Babies have some pretty sensitive skin, so the chemicals in new clothes can cause some pretty tense moments while your itchy baby cries all night. Washing them in some free and clear type detergent will make all the difference.
2. Combine clothes
If you are already using free and clear detergent, there is nothing at all wrong with combining your baby’s clothes with your own. Don’t combine if you don’t use a sensitive skin detergent though. Skip using any fabric softener as well. Fabric softener will remove the fire retardant in the baby’s pajamas. Plus it may cause irritation.
3. Line dry baby clothes
If possible, dry baby clothes on a clothesline in the sun. This will keep the clothes fresh and won’t subject them to unnecessary heat and wear. The sun can also help brighten your baby clothes and have everything looking better.
Remember that babies are new, so anything harsh will affect them. Focus on keeping laundry day simple and use a hypoallergenic detergent. This will keep baby happy and healthy.
